ABOUT HUNT SCHOOL

Students come first!

Hunt school has been in its present location since 1926. The first construction at this site included a four-room native stone building. The school had eleven grades and graduated its first class in 1927. In August 1926 a 25-cent raise of the school tax for Hunt School passed by a large majority, and a 75-cent increase passed for South Fork School. This increase in funds allowed the two school to consolidate following the elections. By 1930, the small four-room school was over-crowded from increased enrollment. Voters approved a $25,000 school construction bond. A native stone, one-story, eight-room addition opened in 1931. It had seven classrooms, an auditorium, a boiler room and two rooms for restrooms. Many of the same facilities and infrastructure are still in use today. This bond proposal will help Hunt School continue its tradition of creating future leaders.
